Primates In Rwanda

Primates are mammals that usually live in tropical regions of some continents like Africa, Asia and North America apart from the human beings who you will find in every continent. Primates have a general characteristic of having a high level of intellect compared to other living creatures and this is related to their big brain size. Many primate species have come to extinction as others are endangered so the few countries that still have them protect them jealously and Rwanda is privileged to be among the few countries that still host a number of primates.

These are great tourist attractions in Rwanda and have greatly contributed to the tourism industry since a high number of tourists come in every year to encounter these man like creatures. Primates have a lot in common with human beings for example way of feeding, caring for young ones, reproduction and general social behavior. Primates in Rwanda include gorillas and golden monkeys in Volcanoes national park, chimpanzees in Nyungwe national park and others like olive baboons, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys and silver monkeys.

Trekking these primates requires you to have trekking permits: these you can book in time to avoid disappointments and inconveniences on arrival. Children below 15 years are usually not allowed to engage in trekking activities so it is better you do not carry them along to the trekking points. Gorilla trekking permits in Rwanda cost $1500, golden monkeys tracking permits cost $100 and chimpanzee tracking permits cost $90 so you can book your ticket online before your arrival. Primate trekking is one of the main and adventurous activities to do while in this beautiful land of a thousand hills that will surely give you a memorable trip.
